First Post and I may have nearly died ;)

I'm starting with this post today as I literally just finished my first Run since catching Whooping Cough in the summer and let's just say I nearly collapsed until I got home and hooked up to my nebulizer (my best friend at the moment along with saline solution and the only thing that helps ease coughing fits for me- more details on that later)

My history with whooping cough is a long and unhappy relationship with the two of us constantly fighting, but that's not what this post is about.
This post is solely about me and trying to build my lung capacity back up and feeling like a chain smoker doing it.

Part of the reason I'm starting this blog is to keep me going and hopefully carry on running and improving.

But I digress again:
I've downloaded the 5K Runner app, because one of the things that I still struggle with is coughing fits when exerting myself. My heart rate goes up, my breathing "tries" to increase and here we are back to me choking on trying to get oxygen past my throat.

I literally did a round of the park (25 Min. total of which 6 Min. are actually run) and the five minutes walking it takes to get back to my place and I am dizzy from lack of oxygen while my muscles are like: Hey lady! You haven't even worked us out! What gives?

I am writing currently sitting here, sucking down the saline steam to get my throat all juiced up to comvince it that the coughing is not needed. At the same time, my adrenaline is slowly easing out of my system (Have I mentioned these episodes most often come along with a panic due to difficulty breathing that even my attempts at pranayama struggle to control)

I'm thinking that generally speaking, swimming might be a better option, but I don't have a pool nearby that I could use unless I spent a fair amount of money on the local gym membership and well... that is beyond my means at the moment.
